Brooklyn Shanti, is an American artist, producer, and songwriter. Best known for his work in pioneering South Asian hip-hop between the late 90’s to present as well as his contributions to the evolution of Tropical Bass and Global Bass, Shanti is a DJ and vocalist on stage, and a producer/director/cinematographer/composer off the stage who has released his work via Sony, Universal, Rawkus, Soulspazm and Someplace Called Brooklyn. He has had his work chart on Billboard and has taken part in Grammy nominated and award winning efforts. To date, Brooklyn Shanti has released almost 20 studio albums of his own music while producing countless more for artists on and outside of his record label, Someplace Called Brooklyn. A vast majority of his work is self produced, most of which he plays all of the instruments on. In the recent decade and a half, he has also filmed and created the music videos which accompany his releases and the releases of those on his record label. As a digital producer and project manager, Shanti was involved in the initial rollout effort for Def Jam Thailand while living in Bangkok (2019). He has helped found digital labels and agencies between the US and Asia dating back to 2001. In 1999, he co-founded Soulspazm, which is currently the world's largest independent hip-hop music distribution company.
